Direction Finding & Locating Systems Require Rugged Electronics

Militaries worldwide have moved into the information age. Information, in fact, is considered to be the fifth dimension of the modern digital battlefield and the fifth domain of warfare, joining land, air, sea, and space. Information operations (IO) includes the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum, which militaries have harnessed – both offensively and defensively – since World War I.

Information, much of which is captured and disseminated in the EM spectrum, helps to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the armed forces. Information collection, processing, analysis, communication, and display capabilities have transformed the way myriad organizations – including military, government, educational, and commercial entities – operate.

Direction finding (DF) and locating systems, also known as radio direction finding (RDF) devices, deliver all these capabilities. Militaries continue to capitalize on RDF to reap various benefits including precision targeting, accurate battle space visualization, and informed decision-making.
