Hiawatha, Iowa, USA – Crystal Group Inc., a trusted manufacturing partner of rugged commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-developed computers, displays, switches, and storage devices, announced today that Boeing awarded the company a contract for video processing and data storage units to be deployed on the U.S. Navy’s P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft.
Boeing, which provides the Next-Generation 737-800 airframe used for the P-8A, is developing a fleet of long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft to replace the aging fleet of P-3C aircraft.
Installations of Crystal Group’s data storage unit, storage server computer and digital video processor assemblies will begin for the P-8A aircraft in 2014 and 2015 as part of Lot 4 and Lot 5 production.
