Hiawatha, Iowa, USA March 25, 2014 – Crystal Group Inc., a trusted manufacturer of rugged commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-developed computers, displays, switches, and storage devices, announced today the release of the RE0813 Rugged Embedded Computer. This newest leading edge workstation class appliance is designed for commercial industries, military operations, and the most demanding mission critical applications.
The RE0813’s billet construction is made from machined strain hardened structural aircraft aluminum. With the all aluminum chassis footprint and compact size (11″x16.5″), the RE0813 Rugged Embedded Computer provides a small package with big capabilities. The unit can be rack mounted or tray mounted as required by the application.
“The RE0813 is optimized for remote applications requiring powerful processing utilizing the Intel® Core i3, i5, or i7 processors,” comments Jim Shaw, Executive Vice President of Engineering for Crystal Group. “Crystal Group enhances the thermal performance to by improving the thermal pathway from the CPU to the chassis, allowing for enhanced temperature and performance levels.”
The unit has an exceptional operating temperature of -40°C to +85°C with two high speed extended temperature cooling fans. The extended temperature range far exceeds its competition. This compact construction weighs only 7.5 lbs. with the ability to include 3 SATA 2.5″ solid state drives and 2 USB ports. The RE0813 is ideal for applications where high thermal, high reliability, and vibration performance are crucial.
Crystal Group computers, especially the RE0813, are attractive solutions for programs where Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) are essential requirements. It can be rack mounted, tray mounted, or panel mounted allowing for space optimization in any environment.
The RE0813 is designed to the IEC 61850-3 standard. The unit is also compliant to emissions radiated FFC part 15.109 Class A and conducted FFC part 15.107 Class A.
The previously released RE0814 Rugged Embedded Computer is a fanless alternative that features no moving parts, desirable in a variety of markets.The RE0813 is similar to the RE0814 unit, it provides all the benefits and scales performance to more capable processing and has the option to be equipped with long-life fans.
